What usually goes wrong
You found a recipe you trust. Then the page asks for newsletter signup, plays a video ad, and hides step 3 under a personal essay. Fine for the couch. Hostile at the stove with flour on your hands.
A recipe cleaner is not a new cookbook. It is a quieter surface for the recipe you already chose.
What Cooking Companion shows you
Paste the recipe URL. You get an ingredients list and a step list without the comment-section noise. When you are ready to cook, cook mode keeps your place so you are not scrolling with a sticky finger.
That matters more than another feed of recipes you will never make. Cleanup first. Discovery second, if at all.
When cleanup fails
Odd layouts and heavily scripted pages can parse poorly. If the import looks wrong, open the original and compare before you commit salt to the pan. Some sites are simply not worth fighting. Find the same dish from a cleaner source and import that instead.

Will it work with any site?
It works with many common recipe pages. Weird markup can break the import. Try another source if the result looks incomplete.
