Why recipe cleanup beats another cookbook app
Cooking Companion focuses on cleaning the recipes you already found, not building another infinite cookbook.
Home cooks do not need another place to discover forty versions of the same chili. They need the recipe they already chose to stop fighting them at the stove.
That is the bet behind Cooking Companion. Paste a URL. Get ingredients and steps in a layout you can cook from. Use cook mode when both hands are wet and you refuse to scroll with a knuckle.
A lot of cooking apps chase the feed: save more recipes, rate more recipes, never cook more recipes. Cleanup is less glamorous. It is also the pain people hit on a Tuesday night.
Imports will not be perfect on every site. Heavy scripts and odd markup break parsers. When that happens, compare against the source or grab the same dish from a cleaner page. Do not trust a half-imported list with oil already hot.
