Letter recognition guides for parents and pre-K and kindergarten teachers, built around Fasty Letters, a free iOS letter game that speaks letter names.
Before a child reads, they have to know the letters: the name, the capital shape, and the lowercase shape. That is 52 things to recognize, and most 4- to 7-year-olds know some of them cold and keep missing a handful. These guides are about finding that handful and practicing it without re-drilling the letters a child already knows.
Fasty Letters is the app behind the guides. It is a free iOS game for ages 4 to 7 with two modes, Letter Match and Letter Recognition. The audio is letter names, capital A and a, uppercase B. It tracks all 52 letter-case pairs separately and brings the least-mastered one back every third question. It does not teach letter sounds, tracing, or blending, and the guides say so when a sound or handwriting job comes up.
Start with the letter recognition guide if you want the practice rule. Use the letter check if you want to know which letters a child knows today. The uppercase and lowercase guide covers the matching skill. Letter names and sounds, letter reversals, the ages 4 to 7 guide, and the app comparison fill in the questions parents ask next.
