What is a collectible card game?
A collectible card game is a card game whose cards are mostly sold in random packs, so your deck comes from your collection. Toybox Champions borrows the duel, not the packs.
The definition
A collectible card game, also called a trading card game, has three parts. Each player owns a deck built from a personal collection. Most cards reach that collection through randomized booster packs or trades. Matches are turn-based duels, usually two players, often won by reducing the other side's life or hit points to zero.
Magic: The Gathering started the genre in 1993. Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Disney Lorcana, and Flesh and Blood follow the same shape: starter deck first, then packs, then a deck you tuned yourself. If a game sells every card in a fixed box with no random packs, hobby shops tend to call it a living card game instead.
What people usually mean by the search
Most of the time the question is which trading card game to start, or what a card is worth. Those answers live with the publishers and the price guides. This page cannot tell you what a Charizard sells for.
Where Toybox Champions fits
Toybox Champions keeps the duel and drops the packs. You collect digital toy cards by playing: wins move the Apprentice Track, and Toy Chests add cards. This web version sells nothing, so there are no booster packs, no Pokémon cards, no Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, and no sports cards.
The match itself will feel familiar if you have played a trading card game: spend Imagination, summon a toy, take the enemy hero to zero. It runs in a browser at toybox.swizzleworks.com. It is for teens and adults, and it is not directed at children under 13.
